Priority 1 — Ambidextrous Safety Selector The highest-impact, most frequently used control on the rifle. An ambi safety selector is a straightforward drop-in upgrade that immediately improves the experience for left-handed shooters and any shooter prioritizing control redundancy. Cost: $30–$100 depending on manufacturer and throw angle.

Priority 2 — Enhanced Charging Handle An extended bilateral latch charging handle addresses one of the most physically awkward standard controls for left-handed shooters. Combined with gas deflection features, it significantly improves the overall shooting experience. Cost: $40–$90.

Tactical / Law Enforcement: Full ambi lower receiver preferred for any rifle that may be used from either shoulder to engage around cover. Military doctrine increasingly mandates ambi controls for this reason.

Left-Handed Primary Build: Start with an ambi lower, add a bilateral charging handle, and consider a left-handed upper or enhanced brass deflection to address ejection direction. A fully mirrored platform is achievable and genuinely transforms the left-handed shooting experience.
